travel leader / FACILITATOR

gonçalo luz

Heart centered spiritual finder, space holder, energy worker.

Gonçalo was born in Portugal in 1972, and worked as a filmmaker and film teacher for 22 years.

In 2010 he followed his call for spiritual awakening. Within the next year, he quit his life as an advertising filmmaker, sold most of his belongings, left the comfort of his home, and set off to the Indian Himalayas.

He travelled on and off for seven years. And this is where his journey consciously began.

Spiritual seeking, along with personal development, became his journey. In this journey, he found Yoga, Tantra, and his Ikigai.

Diving into direct intimacy with himself, his body, his relationships and present reality, became his Sadhana. Remembering his true nature, and that of those around him, became his prayer.

Gonçalo currently lives and works in South-East Asia.

With a beginners mind, he keeps deepening the knowledge and practice of Yoga, Tantra, and Sacred sexuality, from the jungles of South Thailand and the rice fields of Bali, to the monasteries of the Indian Himalayas.

Yoga Intimacy class 1.jpg

Gonçalo teaches a gentle blend of Heart of Yoga and Tantric Hatha.

It’s a deep and self-soothing practice of intimacy with body, breath and movement. An embodied Sadhana of full awareness and acceptance of each moment, just as it is. Yoga as participation in our given reality. Breath leading the way to movement. A non-obsessive deepening of the connection with oneself, with everything and everyone else around us. It is a practice you can take home and make it your own, every day. Starting today.

Gonçalo Luz is a certified Heart of Yoga teacher. The Yoga that he teaches is coming directly from the father of modern Yoga, T. Krishnamacharya, and his son T.K.V. Desikashar, taught and transmitted through Mark Withwell, their student, and Gonçalo’s main teacher. It is the wisdom that Yoga is intimacy with body, breath, movement, and relationship.

So it is much more than just a set of physical postures, as you may find in many yoga studios. It is not gymnastics. It is Yoga - a non-obsessive way to deepen the connection to oneself, to everything and everyone else around us.

Besides his own practice, the core from which he teaches, Gonçalo has studied all together over 800 hours of Tantric Hatha with Agama Thailand for four intense years, Akasha Yoga Academy, with whom he is a 200hr certified teacher, and Heart of Yoga with Mark Whitwell with whom he is also a 200hr certified teacher.

I had a life changing experience. I signed in for the bikes to be honest. I had never tried anything similar to yoga and realized the journey would be incomplete without both the yoga and the men circling. The morning stretching both body and mind complement the ride in the most amazing scenes I’ve ever rode. Gonçalo knows all the region and has friends all over the way, sharing his knowledge and special places that I’d never dreamed of. I’m sure I’ll join one of the next trips. Thanks brother for this amazing experience. Namaste

I just returned from an amazing journey into the Indian Himalayas together with Gonçalo and two other beautiful brothers. All my expectations about adventure and brotherhood have been met and surpassed.
Gonçalo is a great leader and yoga teacher. He knows his way around India and specifically Leh-Ladakh.
During the trip, I always felt safe and was totally amazed by the beautiful views, challenging roads, lovely locals and delicious foods.
I would like to recommend anyone up for an adventure that includes deepening of the connection with yourself and fellow brothers, driving a motorcycle through beautiful, wondrous landscapes and integrating this all with yoga and lots of fun!

One of the most incredible trips I made in India took place in Ladakh region some years ago.
We were a small group, and our leader was Gonçalo Luz.
What a memorable experience it was, not only because the path and outward journey was unbelievingly beautiful but also because of the challenges that made the inward journey a deep, transforming one.
In the midst of all this,Gonçalo's presence and guidance was wonderful. He was calm, real and honest and always highly supportive, especially in the most challenging moments.
He has now put together this journey for men and I wish so many men I know would jump into this adventure and opportunity to just BE themselves, wild and real, in the amazing surroundings of the Himalayas.

I had the pleasure to meet Gonçalo a couple of years ago on a trip to the north of India he was organising at the time. I have to say I really enjoyed it, not only because the places Gonçalo guided us to were amazing but also because he was always willing to help us better understand all the aspects of the culture and its people. More than a trip, I believe Gonçalo was able to turn it into a learning journey!

My first experience traveling through India took me to the Ladakh region and Gonçalo was my travel leader.

During my journey I was very interested in learning more about buddhism and he was always very helpful explaining every single detail, showing an in depth knowledge of the culture and religion!
Actually, it was due to his planning (and also a bit of luck) that I was able to attend an event in a monastery near Leh where I saw Dalai Lama giving a lecture. Definately an highlight of my travel there.

The region itself is a beautiful place, with lots of hidden gems that Gonçalo will skillfully manage to get you there, allow you to be dazzled and give you context both historical and cultural.

What to expect from Gonçalo one may ask? I tell you he's a kind hearted person, and in the weeks I travelled with him I found myself in a point where I was also doing an inner journey throught our talks and the places he was showing. For me it was a must have experience!

Having the opportunity to visit Ladakh with Gonçalo Luz as a guide was an unforgettable experience. I will not forget this memorable trip.
The Ladakh is stunning, the Nubra valley is one of the most beautiful scenery I have seen in my entire life. Being able to explore it with the guidance of Gonçalo was one of the best experience of my life. His huge knowledge of the region, the people, the places was very important to the small group that accompanied him in this trip.
Attending a Dalai Lama lecture at a monastery near Leh was a highlight of this trip.
One of the trips I would repeat...

I had the opportunity to travel with a group led by Gonçalo to Ladakh and it was a memorable trip. Gonçalo revealed to be an excellent guide, a great companion and very knowledgeable about the region. In addition we was very good in managing unexpected situations and tensions within the group. I would love to join this Journey to Ladakh but unfortunately I’m an inexperienced motorcycle rider....
